SOP: Setting Up MCW10 WiFi printer capabilities using the Star Quick Setup Utility on iOS

Purpose

To guide users through the process of configuring the MCW10 Wireless LAN Module with a compatible Star printer using an iOS device.

Scope

This procedure applies to users setting up the MCW10 module with Star printers compatible with the Star Quick Setup Utility on iOS devices.

Prerequisites

• MCW10 Wireless LAN Module
  
  
• Compatible Star printer (e.g., mC-Print2, mC-Print3, TSP143IVUE)
  
  
• iOS device (iPhone or iPad)
   
• Star Quick Setup Utility app is installed on the iOS device
  
  
• Access to a Wi-Fi network
  
  

Procedure

1. Connect the MCW10 Module:
   
   
   • Plug the MCW10 module into the appropriate port on your Star printer.
     
     
   • Ensure the printer is powered on.
     
     
2. Launch the Star Quick Setup Utility:
   
   
   • Open the app, select “Start Guide (Initial Settings)” and click “Use Star Wireless LAN Unit.”
     
     
3. Use Star Wireless LAN Unit:
   
   
   • Press “Next” to go through the four (4) Set-Up Steps screens.
     
     

   • Connect the MCW10 to the printer using the included Ethernet and USB cables.

     Ethernet cable: Connect one end to the MCW10 port labeled LAN 1, and the other to the printer’s Ethernet (LAN) port

     USB cable: Connect one end to the MCW10 micro-USB port, and the other to the printer’s Lightning USB Type-A port for iOS devices.

   • Connect the printer’s power supply, Power the printer [ON], wait for solid [Power] and [LAN 1] Status lights, and click “Wireless LAN Unit Setup” on the fourth set-up screen to continue.

   • Power Printer ON Wait for Solid POWER and LAN1 LED Lights

4. Configure Wi-Fi Settings:
   
   
   • Within the app, navigate to the Wi-Fi settings section.
     
     
   • Enter the SSID (network name) and password for your Wi-Fi network.
     
     
5. Apply Settings to the Printer:
   
   
   • Click “Join” to connect the MCW10 to the Wi-Fi Network. Allow 1 min approx., for the session to complete and click “YES” to select the printer when prompted - Save the settings.
     
     
   • Select the printer by tapping the model listed onthe  screen and click “Yes” to confirm
     
     
6. Test the Connection:
   
   
   • Once configured, the printer should connect to the specified Wi-Fi network.
     
     
   • You can print a test page from the app to confirm connectivity.
     
     

Notes

• Ensure that your iOS device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you intend to connect the printer to.
  
  
• If the printer does not appear in the app, ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your iOS device and that the printer is in pairing mode.
